Keeping it simple – Line Drawing
All in my Landscape A6 Seawhite Black hardbound sketchbook - that pretty much goes with me everywhere.
Blue wash – place and mood
I really like how working into these colour wash pens with more water you can disrupt the surface and evoke different possible readings of place - the mood, the weather, the time.
Drawing on trains (again)
A week of journeys and some good drawing opportunities. I so enjoyed drawing the couple in the top drawing. Click the images for more detail.
Rural and Urban
One weekend in Shropshire, the next in London.
Finding stuff to draw in the everyday
It's not always about finding something exciting or aesthetic to draw but about getting going and drawing what is there and seeing what happens.
Drawing for painting – imagination
Three pages from recent sketchbooks, where I've been trying to get down ideas for painting. I'm not just conjuring the images from nothing. I'm using previous drawings, the TV as well as remembered moments. Thinking too about painting by Peter Doig and Daniel Richter....
This Time
'This Time' - acrylic on watercolour paper.
London Sketches
A day in London - visiting galleries - and drawing while I travel about. Serious competition for my daughter's drawing.
Waiting for a train; sermon notes
One day drawing at an underground station, the next I'm taking down sermon notes.
Scratchy Small Drawings
Rather indifferent sketches; difficult times.
